I was skeptical and feared that it was made with hollow tubing. Fear not, it is manufactured with solid stainless steel rods and as such, it is very sturdy and withstands a good deal of weight without sagging. I especially like the ability to have almost infinite abilities to arrange all of the lighting, cameras, or whatever just like a full sized c-stand. I left off one star for two reasons ... the first is in the fact that the middle leg does not have the ability to lock down and hold its position. I sometimes have uneven ground or even steps and it just does not appear in firm position without locking that leg down. The second reason has not yet become a problem but I wish the swivel mounts for equipment were more substantial than being made of plastic. The entire unit is sound but I fear the plastic may be a weak point. Overall, a great little stand that provides multiple mounting points and infinite angles of positioning.
